Coming Home to Yourself
October invites us to slow down and come home to ourselves beneath the expectations, noise, and roles we carry.

Fall has a way of inviting us to slow down.
As the light softens and the season begins to change, I find myself thinking about what it means to come home—not only to a place, but to ourselves. Beneath the expectations, responsibilities, noise, and roles we carry, there is still a self asking to be heard. October can offer a quiet moment to listen.
Coming home to yourself is not about becoming someone new or getting every part of life right. It can be as simple as recognizing what brings you peace, what helps you feel seen, and what no longer fits. It is making room for the truth of who you are, at your own pace.
That spirit matters especially this month, as many in our community observe National Coming Out Day on October 11. There is no required timeline and no single right way to share your identity or your story. For some people, being more visible can bring joy and connection. For others, privacy, waiting, or choosing carefully whom to trust may be the path that best protects their well-being. Safety and belonging matter, and both deserve care.
No one should have to make this journey alone. We find our way through the people and places that remind us we belong: relationships that hold us with honesty, friendships that make room for us, chosen families and families who show up, beloved pets, businesses that welcome us, and communities where we can breathe more freely. Those connections do not have to look the same to be meaningful. Across the full diversity of our LGBTQIA+ community, each of us deserves to be met with dignity, warmth, and respect.
At Living Pride & Wellness, that is the kind of space we hope to create—an inclusive, attainable, and welcoming place for stories, reflection, practical encouragement, and connection. This magazine is for the many ways we live: the milestones and the ordinary days, the questions we carry, the people we love, and the small choices that help a life feel more like our own.
On this month’s cover, a multigenerational LGBTQI+ group gathers with two dogs beside an autumn mountain lake. It is a gentle picture of togetherness: people sharing a place, a season, and a moment. I hope this issue offers that same sense of welcome—somewhere to pause, take in what matters, and remember you do not have to earn your place here.
As October unfolds, may you release what no longer serves you and make room for what is next. May you stay close to the people, practices, and possibilities that help you feel at home in your own life.
“Cheers to you, your well-being, and the path ahead. Wherever you are on your journey, I’m grateful you are here.”
With pride and gratitude,
